Frequently Asked Questions

WILL I NEED PLANNING PERMISSION AND WHAT ABOUT BUILDING REGULATIONS?

We ensure jobs meet all regulatory specifications including stringent building regulations and planning permission. We will also liase with the local council and keep you up to date with the process. It is worth noting that provided you own the whole house, many loft conversions and extensions can be done under 'permitted development' which means that no planning permission is needed. One of our qualified team will visit your property prior to any works or plans to discuss what will be needed.

CAN I VISIT CONVERSIONS ALREADY COMPLETED?

Yes. We are happy to show you work already completed – we also have many customer references.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY EXISTING LOFT HATCH?

The existing loft hatch will be blocked off, made secure and plastered.

HOW MUCH WILL A LOFT CONVERSION COST AND HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Each conversion is individual to your property so it is impossible to give a flat figure or timescale. However, generally speaking a conversion will take between 6 and 8 weeks. The price will depend on numerous factors such as the size of your loft and the various features included.

WHAT INSURANCE DO YOU HAVE TO CARRY OUT THE WORK ON THE PROPERTY?

Both the company and tradesmen have public liability insurance.

ARE THERE SET TYPES OF LOFT CONVERSIONS?

Yes, although there is a lot of flexibility as to how you use the space! Converting the area already available within your loft and putting windows in is called a ‘rooflight’ or ‘Velux’ conversion. A conversion with a flat roof extension to the roof is called a ‘Dormer’ conversion. There are also ‘Mansard’ or ‘Double Mansard conversions which are more elaborate and create large amounts of space.
